Being
a gentleman is important to him and those around him, which isn't a
sometimes thing, but something consistent. Handling situations with
grace is important, because it maintains respect of all those involved.
Yet situations or circumstances come to pass that you can't handle
things smoothly and you have to be candid and it's understandable you
can act as if you appear mean or inconsiderate. But the situation calls
for such action.
Lives
are in danger. There are two ways in which this applies. The first is situational or circumstance. Examples of this are a car accident, fire
or natural disaster. I know most of you are thinking, of course, yet
you would be surprised how many times people react in a passive manner
when dealing with this situation. Just remember to stay as calm as
possible, stay focused and if you need to communicate with someone, be
as direct as possible.
Someone who is aggressive to you. I’ll just say
this, do whatever it takes to protect yourself and those you you need to
protect such as your family and make them remember that messing with
you was a mistake. I’m not saying to break their arm, but if it
happens, don’t sweat it.
Racial
Slurs or someone being generally inconsiderate: Initially, when
someone uses this language, you must take a look at your situation. If
they are with a large number of people, and you know you could be in
danger, select your battles. Yet if not, and it’s really offensive,
then initially approach the person and express your issue. If they
continue, immediately become much more assertive and address the person
again. It is really important to not attack them personally, but to talk
about their actions. You don't know if they are just out of character
or that is their character, yet addressing what they are doing you get
more mileage out of what you are saying to them.
