Bow Tie Friday's
Depending
on where you live in the country, just after Memorial Day in May, or
one week before July 4th, which happens to be my birthday, Summer
fashion moves to merge contemporary fashion with a classic touch, thus
Bow Tie Fridays emerged.
Originally from the south, yet those in the
north and the west have caught on, Bow Tie Friday’s started as to
represent the beginning of the summer, especially in horse racing.
There is nothing like wearing a bow tie to the track, especially on
derby day. In more recent years, it meant bringing back some formality
to fashion. In today’s society, most companies have dress down Fridays
to signify the weekend has begun, yet most companies these days that
don’t require formal attire don’t have dress down Fridays because it’s
dress down daily. They are best worn with suspenders, a vest or even a
light sweater for the mid to late Spring and early Autumn season.
October is when most begin going back to ties and more formal weather
to show the winter months are coming.
Personally, I started doing Bow
Tie Friday’s to express personality with fashion and formality, but also
an alternative way to express being casual. Unless in a formal
setting, or in a tuxedo, the bow tie isn’t as formal as it used to be,
thus is perfect for Fridays in industries or situations that require you
to dress professionally, yet relaxed in atmosphere. Additionally, you
gain a level of positive attention that day because bow ties are so
rare, when worn right you will almost always be complimented on a
consistent basis. So between now and next Friday, get yourself a nice
bow tie and enjoy.
