Introducing Colors

When you look at your closet, do you feel as if your primary colors are black, grey and white?  Great colors, and essential to your fashion vault  no doubt, however they can be repetitive and can only carry a classy look for so long, and with a limited selection of combinations, its only a matter of time before your look becomes bland.

One of the great things about the wintertime is the ability to break out of your normal bland color spectrum, and introduce color to your wardrobe.  With all the fabrics and layers, you can experiment conservatively, this allowing yourself to gradually become comfortable with adding color to your look.  So let’s look at some options that are available for you to illuminate your look.

Simple
Pick two of your favorite colors. They say one of the easiest ways to start something new is to ease into it.  What a great way to start experimenting with colors than to choose two and go with it.  Don’t just default to blue, because it’s too easy, pick something that is comfortable as well as something a bit uncomfortable such as Red and lavender. By the way, you know how its known that real men wear pink, they also wear lavender.

Start with accessories. The best part about adding accessories to your ensemble is that you can control how they change your look, depending on where they are located. For example, if you were to choose a necktie or bow tie, the focus is on the center of the body and around the neck. This is nice because the color can pop much more with an accenting background that the white shirt or grey suit provides like this tie.  This handmade lavender gingham tie by Megan Cash from Mister Stag is a great pair with a black, or grey suit.  The lavender is present enough to be noticed, but not so overpowering, allowing a subtle color to bring just enough for others to notice and give a compliment.

For example, if we were to take this handmade Mizu tie from Mister Stag,  the plaid pattern is nice because the combination of white, black grey, the red hint attention instead of commands it.  How you can bring out the red is with a red pocket square.
