Lifestyle: Ambiance

When you want to make an impression, especially with that special some one, an important thing to consider is the ambiance (or atmosphere) you create. Always be aware that people remember less of what you say and more of how you make them feel. So always keep that in mind. This not only covers where you live, but your car and the restaurants you go to (when necessary). A few tips to help establish great ambiance
Simple:
Lighting.  Light has the most impact of ambiance.  To dark and you cant see anything, to light, and you spoil the mood. The best lighting if possible is the late afternoon, early evening. You can do so much with that, and take advantage of the natural light that comes through the room.
Sophisticated:
Cater to your audience. Make sure the person you are with will appreciate the environment. If you are at a restaurant that seems stiff or to formal and she/he is a lively care free person, it may not work.
If at all possible, make it personalized. This is important in making an impression because it shows that you are listening, which means you care.  Scents are a good way to show you are listening. Having air fresheners such as candles or plug ins are great.  Make sure it's not to strong, because it can be a major distraction from the mood.
Classic:
Make sure its a clean environment. It doesn’t have to be extremely clean, but dirt, dust and things that are dingy make it that much more uncomfortable for your guest, unless they are into that.
