Day 11: Ascribe To Improving In Your Career
Remember when you graduated high school
or undergrad and the students making the speech were talking about the future,
and what we can achieve? That day is
here and if you are on the career path for a promotion, make it a point that
this year will be your year. Here are a
few things you can do to help you:
Promote yourself, and make sure its
known you want to be promoted
A lot of people feel that they should
be recognized for the work they did.
Agreeable, yes, yet everyone doesn’t know everything that you do. So share those things with your boss and
associates so that you do stand out.
Be prepared to move: companies even
The way things used to be is that you
could easily sit at a company for 20+ years and retire. Get a great pension and
move up. These days, moving to a
different area, even a different company may be necessary for you to get career
advancement. I’m not saying litter your
resume with companies, but if the move is right, then take it.
Seek out new skills, projects
The only way to grow is to get
better. How to do that is get more
skills and seek out more projects. A
great secret to get in good with your boss is to ask to take on more
responsibilities. This shows that you
are concerned with their work load and are a team player. It also gives you the opportunity to work more
closely with them and show your leadership.
Start small, and then take on larger projects.
