Day 7: Take Your Vacation & Get Rest
-->
A lot of us are driven people. I
ascribe to the notion of taking no days off, especially in business. You can lose time and positioning to your competition,
as well as your peers at work. Yet the
best of the best take days off, and for sure take vacation.
First of all you will be well rested & you
perform better that way. You mind is
clear, your response is sharp and you can endure those unexpected long days and
nights at the office. I personally give
100% every day and leave nothing on the table at the end. Its hard to run on that octane day in and
out, you can and will most likely burn out.
Next, you can enjoy the time away from the “controlled chaos”. Many if not most successful people in
business find, discover better ways to do things, or have an epiphany about the
direction they need to go when well rested and credit that to being away. Its almost another way to work on your
business, vs in your business.
Additionally, you can test your business partners & staff. If you are doing a great job in preparing
them, and making sure they are in the right positions, they will excel, making
you proud. The mark of true leadership
is how they do after you are gone vs. while you are there.
Furthermore, taking vacation helps you
realize what’s important. Your family
and friends are what you work hard to support in most cases, so why not stop
and spend that time that you have earned with them and enjoy doing some of the
things you always wanted to do. That
time is the most precious, and most of all helps put in perspective what is important
in life. So when the vacation comes
around this year, or you time to take it comes up, the work will be there when
you come back, those memories that you could have wont if you skip out on your vacation.
